Black and White landscape photographs of Nottingham Hill, the Cotswolds
With a peak of 974ft Nottingham Hill is located next to and sits just below the highest point in the Cotswolds, Cleeve Hill. Perhaps not as well known as its taller neighbour Nottingham Hill is nonetheless an interesting and atmospheric location for a short hike. It provides outstanding views of the surrounding countryside including the Severn Valley, the Malverns, and Bredon Hill. Evidence of ancient quarries and Iron Age hillfort earthworks can be found on the southwestern slopes. In addition old farm buildings and small patches of woodland provided plenty of photographic opportunities.
I have walked around Nottingham Hill on just three occasions. On each trip the weather was somewhat inclement. Cloud, wind, rain and mud in abundance did not distract or maybe added to my impression of the area. Without doubt I will be returning to the area as this winter progresses.
